Last month the town of Stonington removed two fishing platforms from the Masons Island causeway that had deteriorated to the point of being unsafe. Local officials are working to repair and replace the underlying structure and fishing venue as soon as permitting and funding goes through.
In the meantime, the causeway with the signage 'no fishing from bridge,' has become a fishing spot. People have been fishing from the rocks and the wall on either side of the bridge.
