Madison wants to rebuild shellfish beds

Madison wants to bring back shellfish beds to their rivers and shoreline. The beds will be for recreationally fishing with some areas leased to commerical shellfishers. They plan to replace the old town dock with an upweller, a floating dock which holds bags of oyster and clam seeds while they grow to a size appropiate for seeding. The target rivers are Neck River, Fence Creek, Hammonasset River and Tom's Creek. The goal is to purchase 1000 quarter size oyster seeds, allow them to grow to half dollar size and then seed the areas.
