Wallingford preserves 17 acres of open farm land

Wallingford received a $409,500 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection to purchase a former farm at 155 Cheshire Road. The 17-acre parcel is located in the Mill River watershed adjacent to Fresh Meadow Swap. The property is not only valuable because of its proximity to Mill River and other small ponds, but also for its unique grasslands. There is also a pond on the property that town officials plan to research to see what kind of fishing habitat might exist there.
