- East of Flushing Meadow is the Bayside Marina, on the shore of Little Neck Bay is popular with more serious fishermen. The marina is owned by the Parks Department, and a concessionaire rents small motorboats and sells bait and tackle to seagoing anglers. The marina is open May 1st to October 31st. There are also fishing rods available for rent. You can fish from a boat or from the pier, where crabbing is popular as well. To get to the marina, take the Cross Island Parkway northbound (it is not accessible from the southbound side) to the marina exit. The only other point of entry is from a footbridge near 28th Avenue in Bayside. For information on rentals, fishing or for directions call 718-229-0097.
- Head south for Broad Channel where you'll find the Smitty’s Fishing Station on East 9th Road. Smitty's has been in business since 1938 and is located near the Broad Channel A train station. Available for rent are motorboats and rowboats (every day weather permitting). Smitty’s is open from April to October from Thursday to Monday. Call Smitty’s at 718-945-2642.
- Two popular bridge fishing destinations in south Queens border Broad Channel, at the Joseph Addabbo Bridge in Howard Beach and the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge in the Rockaways. There are numerous bait and tackle shops toward the southern end of Howard Beach, but parking is slightly limited during the summer along Cross Bay Boulevard. Parking on side streets is still available.
