- Bunnells Pond located in Beardsley Park in Bridgeport. In recent years the pond was drained and a new dam, complete with a fish ladder, was built. While the pond was drained, local fishing groups, including the Bridgeport Bassters, pulled out tons of accumulated junk including an automobile. They then added some new structure for fish to hide and breed. Today the pond offers lots of fishing excitement.
- Bunnells Pond is part of the Pequonnock River which runs through Trumbull into Bridgeport and empties into Long Island Sound. In the sections of the river that runs through Trumbull, the DEP released hundreds of trout including some trophy-sized fish. With the recent heavy rains it is probable that some of those fish were pushed into the pond. In order to help guarantee a successful day of fishing the DEP will be releasing an additional 1,000 trout into Bunnells Pond around 10 a.m. on the day of the event, May 12th.
