This is an afront to our freedoms. If they can get away with this one then they can get away with anything. Soon we will be nothing more than slaves to our governments. I am pissed and you should be also.

i do not mind dishing out ten dollars. Its only ten bucks, and it goes towards preserving the shore we fish, protecting the stocks, and gives them an idea of how many people are actually fishing in the ocean. Lighten up.

you are dead wrong....ALL THE SALTWATER FISHING LIC FEES WILL GO TO THE GENERAL FUND. That means absolutely no benefit will be realized by the fishing community, or Long Island Sound. Great going CT!!!!!

Amen Brother on the General Fund. All this will do is give raises to the politicians and increase their retirement, if you think this is going to help preserve the shore and help the fish stock then maybe you should run for politics because now you sound like a politician. In the state of Florida, they use this money wisely by building arificial reefs for better fishing, you will never see that here in Ct. Ct. don't give a damn, it's all about money and if they were really concerned about conservation, they would keep the draggers out of our waters,I would pay $50.00 for a license if that happened. It would take 10 years for me to equal the catch of one week. So "Lighten up," if you really believe what you wrote, then you must believe in the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy.

Yes you are very wrong. They have no right to do this as they do not own the waters they are charging us to fish in. Yet another violation of the Constitution being ignored.

Do the math on the revenue stream versus the actual state investment in marine waters. This is purely a new revenue stream being created to replace the lost revenue due to the reduction of hunting licenses being purchased in the last 10 years. The key is this: using fees, which go beyond the cost of the services offered by the state (for any service) is creating a tax on too small of a voter group to fight successfully. It is a divide and conquer, by the politicians, on the taxpayers. Now, since one of the founding values of the USA is "no taxation without representation," then anyone who supports or seeks fees beyond the cost of service does so in defiance of a core belief of the American culture. Forgive the drama but, if you support revenue streams of this type, you hate America. It is a purely logical conclusion. It is a nice message from Rell and McCarthy to soldiers overseas. In fact, these people don't have the ability to actually lead or manage. They are incapable of saying "no, we just don't have the money; cut the program." It isn't leadership, it is cowardice and incompetence.

And now we know why they were hell bent to pass it so that they could then double it just 4 months later. I have had it with these crooked rat Bas***ds. Term linits need to be imposed. New corruption has got to be better than old corruption.

Fishing License price doubles in 1 year from 20 - 40! quick question for you folks - how many years did it take to even reach 20? I bet a hell of a lot longer then 1 year! Where does this money go? It sure doesnt support any fishing programs that I know of - but I bet the clowns in Hartford think this will get them out of the hole they dug us into. One of the highest taxing states and also one of the most corrupt...coincidence?
