- The state Department of Environmental Protection has stocked 10 Connecticut lakes and ponds with channel catfish, including one in Bolton, in a planned effort to enhance fisheries in urban areas. In this area, Lower Bolton Lake and Keney Park pond have been stocked. This is the first time that the DEP has released catfish into state waters.
- "The state's only significant population of channel catfish is found in the Connecticut River where they support a very popular fishery," Parker said. DEP says anglers fishing the river south of Hartford harvest approximately 40,000 catfish each year. (Journal Inquirer)
