Talk about the one that got away. There's at least one fisherman in Connecticut who's glad it did. The man was fishing Monday afternoon under a bridge on the West River between New Haven and West Haven when he spotted a grenade in a plastic bag on the shore.
"It was a World War II style," New Haven police Sgt. Vince Anastasio said. The New Haven bomb squad was called in, briefly shut down the bridge and safely detonated the grenade, Anastasio said.
Police suspect the device, which was old and rusty, may have washed up with the tide. There were no injuries.
