Super Trout - Bigger and Better?

Scientists at the USDA are developing Rainbow Trout that grow faster, contain more meat and are unable to reproduce. Manipulating trout embryos at a very early stage to create an extra set of chromosomes results in the fish converting food energy into muscle mass versus reproduction. The resulting trout is almost two pounds.

Using extra sets of chromosomes to increase the size and protein of a food source is not new. After centuries of genetic manipulation todays' wheat is hardier and contains more protein than the bread Jesus ate.
