New Milford to buy Second Hill reservoir from United Water CT

The Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC) has given approval for United Water Connecticut to sell the Second Hill reservoir property to New Milford. The town will pay 1.94 million dollars for the 25 acre reservoir and accompany 170 acre, bowl-shaped, sloping wooded site filled with wetlands and streams. A combination of state grants, town funds, and private donations are paying for it.

The reservoir has not been in use for over a decade. Under the guidance of the DEP, the land will be kept in it's natural condition with the town adding camping, hiking and fishing.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to the Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust, P.O. Box 242, New Milford CT 06776 and should be clearly marked for the reservoir property.
