4. Cockenoe Island, Westport, 341-5090. Hiking, picnic area, fishing, shellfishing accessible by boat.
5. Compo Beach, 64 Compo Beach Rd, Westport, 227-5356. 2.5 miles of beach, concessions.
6. Cove Island Park, Cove Road and Weed Ave., Stamford, 977-4140. Pavilion and concessions, tennis courts, softball fields, horseshoe pits, skating rink, picnic areas, fishing, rest rooms. Sticker required.
7. Cummings Park, Shippan Ave., Stamford, 977-4140. Pavilions, boardwalk, fishing piertennis courts, handball and basketball courts, playground, four softball fields, rest rooms and parking. Sticker required.
8. Indian Well State Park, Shelton, 735-4311. 153 acres along the Housatonic River. Hiking, boating, swimming, waterfalls, picnic area.
9. Jennings Beach, South Benson Road, Fairfield. Food concessions, bathhouse and a playground. $12/car on weekdays, $20/car on weekends.
10. Long Beach, Oak Bluff Dr., Exit 30 off of I-95, Stratford. $10/car.
11. Pear Tree Point Beach, Pear Tree Point Rd., Darien, 656-7325. Food concessions and restrooms.
12. Penfield Beach, Fairfield Beach Rd., Fairfield, 256-3010. Playground, picnic area, public grills, food concessions, restrooms. $10/car on weekdays, $15/car on weekends.
13. Pleasure Beach, Walk across Long Beach from Oak Bluff Dr. in Stratford. No entry by car. Abandoned and decrepit, so explore at your own risk.
14. Seaside Park, Park Ave., Exit 27 off of I-95, Bridgeport. Food concessions, bathhouse & restrooms, picnic areas. $5/car.
15. Sherwood Island, Exit 18 off of I-95, Westport, 566-2305. State park with 1.5 miles of beach, food concessions and a bathhouse. $5/car on weekdays, $7/car on weekends.
16. Short Beach Park, Dorne Drive, Stratford, 385-4052. Food concession, restrooms, picnic areas, par-3 golf course, mini golf course, skateboard park.
17. Weed Beach, Nearwater Lane, Darien, 656-7325. Public grills, restrooms and tennis courts. $25/car.
18. William E. Wolfe Park, 285 Cutlers Farm Rd., Monroe, 452-5416. Outdoor swimming pool, 16-acre lake w/ beach for swimming, ballfields, soccer fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, basketball & tennis courts.
